RUDDY, James J. - Born June 28, 1930 in Larahirl Culdaff County Donegal, Ireland.
The 3rd oldest of 14 siblings. As a teenager James and his older brothers John and Edward travelled to Glasgow, Scotland for employment.
In the early 50’s as a young man James found himself in Halifax, Montreal, Northern Ontario
and Toronto where he met and married his late wife Kathleen McCaugherty.
James and Kathleen raised a family of 3 with Elizabeth, Shaun and Brian who in turn delivered
8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He spent his working life active at every level with organized labor for 45 years retiring in 1992
to his home of over 60 years on Highfield Rd where he enjoyed his garden, watching soccer and
time with wife Kathleen until her passing July 2017.
James was a member of St Joseph’s Parish from the day it was built and was active in this
congregation to his death.
James passed peacefully in his sleep, in his own bed and left Highfield on his terms in peace
Thursday August 9, 2018.
Visitation will be held at McDougall & Brown funeral home, Scarborough Chapel, on Monday, August 20th from 10am to 11am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 am. Reception from 12 noon to 1:30pm.
