MCLUSKIE, James Robert 'Bob' - (May 11, 1944 - August 27, 2018) - Of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Bob is survived by his wife Joan Rivers (married in 1972) and their four children: Jennifer, Daniel, Heather (Greg Coles) and Robin (Ian Ricci).
Loving papa to three grandchildren: Julia, Katelyn, and Jordan, and several nieces and nephews.
He was an only child and preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Kathleen.
Bob was born on May 11, 1944 in Montreal, Quebec. He earned his Law Degree from University of Toronto and developed a strong reputation as an exceptional lawyer. He worked as a corporate lawyer in Toronto with the small and established law firm 'Walsh, McLuskie, Doyle'. Throughout his career, he made life-long friends and received many accolades from his clients.
A sensitive and emotional soul, Bob enjoyed large family gatherings and traveling with good friends - food and drink in-hand! Bob never shied away from telling a good joke or shedding a tear. He was a natural patriarch, offering support to family and friends through sound legal and life advice. This continued until October 2015 when Bob was diagnosed with dementia. It was a difficult journey that Bob handled with sweetness, dignity and grace. The family extends their gratitude for the wonderful caregiving support and to his healthcare advisor Dr. Weiss.
A visitation service has been organized at Turner & Porter funeral home at 2357 Bloor St W., Toronto and will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Pius X Church at 2305 Bloor Street W. on Thursday, August 30 at 11am. A reception will follow at the Old Mill Inn (Room: Guild Hall) at 21 Old Mill Road, starting at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Toronto chapter of the Alzheimer Society.
