HANES, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) (nee HARTLEY) - It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Betty Hanes announces her passing on September 10, 2018 at the age of 89.
She passed away peacefully with two of her grandsons at her bedside.
We take comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace after her long struggles with Alzheimer's.
Beloved mother of David Hanes (Mary Ann), Brian Hanes (Christine) and Kathryn Buckle (Ed).
Devoted grandmother to Jason, Dan (Emma), Josh, Jacob (Alana), Luke (Patricia), Katey (Caleb), William, Sam, Travis (Samantha), Meghan and Elliott (Tia).
Loving great-grandmother to Ethan, Jack and Emma.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Betty moved with her young family to Etobicoke in 1958 where she raised her children and eventually started a second career as a Ward Clerk at Queensway General Hospital.
She will be sadly missed by all who encountered her. Following her wishes, there will not be a funeral.
Her cremated remains will be interred at Beechwood Cemetery beside her parents and brother, at a date to be determined.
