Hardie MaryHARDIE, Mary Elizabeth  -  Quietly, after a short illness, Mary passed away at Dorothy Ley Hospice in Toronto, in her ninety-eighth year.

Beloved wife of the late Col. Robert Gellatly Hardie, and much loved mother of the late James (Barbara), Catherine and Peter (Brenda).

Adored grandmother of five, and soon-to-be great-grandmother of one.

Youngest daughter of Frances Violet Collier and James Gauldie, and sister to the late Donald Gauldie, the late Nancy Stewart and the late Winifred Scollard. Dear sister-in-law of the late Betty Hardie.

Known as 'Mimi' to most, she was a keen reader, enthusiastic gardener, and completed cryptic crosswords well into her nineties. She and Bob, married for fifty-six years, made a wonderful team. Their life together was full of travel, good friends, and countless Sunday evening dinners with family, in the back garden and at the cottage. Mimi’s warmth and quiet wisdom endeared her to everyone she met; her absence will be felt not just by family, but by all the friends - young and old - who came to know her through the years.

Thank you to all those who provided compassionate care to Mary in her final weeks. Friends are invited to join the family for a funeral service at 3:30 pm on Wednesday September 19th at St. George’s-on-the-Hill Anglican Church, 4600 Dundas St. W., Toronto.

The sadness of our loss is immeasurable, but we take comfort in the legacy of kindness and generosity Mary leaves. She was our most lovely Mimi, our one-of-a-kind, and a truly special soul.

'She lived for those she loved, and those she loved remember'.
