GIFFORD, James H.  - November 28, 1935 - October 7, 2018 Toronto

Predeceased by his mother Anne Lorraine, her husband Walter J. Warrington and his father William Giffford.

Loving husband of Elizabeth Gifford and lovingly remembered by his daughter Gloria (David Poborsa) and his sons Glenn and Douglas.

He was a cherished Papa to his grandsons James Poborsa (Alana) and Scott Poborsa (Julia) and great-grandchildren Quinn and Ava Livesey-Poborsa.

Beloved life partner of Suzanne Sutcliffe and remembered as a great friend and mentor to Suzanne's children Kelly (Mark) and Laura (Jacques) and her grandchildren Avril, Jasmine and Andre Boisvert, who knew him as Papa Jim. Jim was the pioneer of early retirement.

He lived a rich and full life at his home on Big Bald Lake in Buckhorn, Ontario, where he enjoyed Nature and his many passions which included painting, photography, wood carving, fishing, boating and hunting.

Always the consummate gentlemen he will be dearly missed by his many long standing friends who will miss dropping in for a drink and enjoying wonderful Gifford stories after receiving a firm welcoming handshake. Suzanne would like to give her heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff at Harmony Hills who gave Jim and herself warm and compassionate care during his brief residence.

Cremation has taken place. We will be Celebrating Jim's Life on Friday, October 12, 2018 (2-5 p.m.) in the Library and Reading Room at the Royal Canadian Military Institute, 426 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, "please" donate to your charity of choice. "I am with those I love waiting for those I love".
