Corry DorothyCORRY, Dorothy Lorna - (July 2, 1933October 9, 2018)

Dorothy Lorna Corry was born on July 2, 1933 in Montreal, Quebec and passed away on October 9, 2018 in Toronto, Ontario, in her 86th year, peacefully at North York General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy is survived by her three children – Peter (Suzanne), Kathy, and Robin, and her younger brother Billy. For the past year and a half, Dorothy has missed sharing her days with Terry, her loving husband of 60 years. Both were so proud of their four wonderful grandsons – Joshua, Sean, Lucas (Colleen), and Noah.

Born and raised in Montreal, Dorothy made lifelong friendships during her school days at the Hochelaga Convent School run by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, friendships that would span seven decades. A chance encounter with a young man from Mile End at a local dance led to Dorothy’s marriage to Terry, the growth of their family, and an eventual move to Toronto.

Although Dorothy enjoyed her ten years working in the Office of a local high school, it was her role as “Nana” that brought her the greatest happiness. Her love for her family was absolute and throughout her life Dorothy continued to teach both her children and grandchildren the meaning of selfless love. Her long stories, her gentle humour, her giving nature, and her comforting presence will all be sorely missed.

As a big sister to Donald, Evelyn, Irene, and Billy, a favourite aunt to her nieces and nephews, a loving grandmother, a devoted wife, and an irreplaceable mother, Dorothy has filled our lives with goodness, laughter, and pure love, and we are forever grateful.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Cardiology and Palliative Care Units of the North York General Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care. Gifts in memory may be made to the North York General Hospital Foundation.

A private service was held on Tuesday October 16th to celebrate the woman we so love.

Visitation at Jerrett funeral home, North York chapel, 6191 Yonge St., Toronto will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 - at which time a Private Family Service will take place.
