Grell JaneGRELL, Jane Catherine - (December 27, 1929November 2, 2018) - 

Jane Catharine Grell, age 88 of Toronto, Ontario, died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 2, 2018 at Christie Gardens in Toronto after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

She was the daughter of Harold and Rosemary (O'Connor) Grell and sister of the late William Anthony Grell. She is survived by her sister-in-law Frances Mary (Coates) Grell and her children Frank Grell (Rachel Jean), Harold Grell, Patricia Grell (Larry Richard) of Edmonton, and Eddie Grell of Montreal, her great grand nieces Dominique and Melanie Grell and great grand nephews Thomas, William and Vincent Richard.

Jane was a long time employee of the Toronto Star, an avid skier, seamstress, lover of art, the French language, nature, music, poetry and good literature. She was a faithful friend and an awesome and doting aunt to her nieces and nephews.

She was an intelligent, quiet and gentle soul who gave generously of her time and talents and will be dearly missed by all those who were privileged to know her.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 11:30 am at St. Monica's Catholic Parish, 44 Broadway Ave, east of Yonge St., Toronto, with interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Special thanks to Dr. Shrott, Debbie Stipetic and the staff of Christie Gardens and Jocelyn Minton who were Jane's other family and who showered her with tender care and attention.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada or to the Christie Gardens Foundation. Arrangements entrusted with Jerrett funeral home, 6191 Yonge St., Toronto.
