Carolan RuthCAROLAN, Ruth Mary  -  With great love and sadness, the family announces the passing of our mother on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Dorothy Ley Hospice, Etobicoke, ON at the age of 98 years.

Born in Toronto, Ontario on April 14, 1920, Ruth was the daughter of John and Lillian Bradley.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, Jack Carolan and was widowed at a very young age.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Jack, Claire, Eileen, Helen, Gerry and William. At the time of her passing, Ruth was the last surviving member of the Bradley family. She was also the last surviving member (in-law) of the Carolan family of Winnipeg.

Dear mother of Paul (Evelyn), Mary Claire White (Paul) and John Carolan. Proud and loving grandmother of Jeffrey and Stephen Carolan, Stephanie Shortly, Andrea McQueen, John and Kevin White. 'Super Nana' to Russell and Elizabeth Carolan, Matthew and Ethan McQueen and Brayden Shortly.

Ruth was especially fond of her many cousins, nieces and nephews both in Canada and the United States.

Ruth worked for many years in the educational system. She was the first school secretary at Michael Power High School, working with the Basilian Fathers. Ruth then went to the Etobicoke Board of education, both in schools and in Administration at the Board offices. Her career then took her to Glaxo Pharmaceuticals from where she retired many years later. Ruth was an accomplished musician, reaching her ARCT in piano. Her love of music brought her great joy every day of her life.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sophia Leung (family physician), Dr. P.P. Zheng, Lorraine NP and the palliative team on 6J at Trillium Health Partners. A special thanks to Dr. N. Salvo and the entire staff at Dorothy Ley Hospice.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel at 4933 Dundas St. W., (between Kipling & Islington Aves.) Etobicoke on Sunday, November 11th from 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Roman catholic Cathedral, 65 Bond St. on Monday, November 12th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Toronto.
