Lamkey MaryLAMKEY, Mary Ellen - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Ellen, on Monday November 5, 2018, in Toronto, Ont., at the age of 65.

Left to cherish her memory are son David, daughter Nina and eight grandchildren. She is survived by siblings Darrell, Muriel, Sharon, Penny and Gail.

Mary Ellen was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, to David and Bernice Lamkey. She moved to Toronto at a fairly young age and worked at Purolator for many years.

She was predeceased by her partner, Jimmy and brother Wayne.

When Nina turned 4 years old and started school, Mary Ellen started working at Scott’s Directory, which was later acquired by Annex Business Media, which is where she worked until her untimely passing.

Mary Ellen and Nina lived together for 21 years. Three years ago, Nina moved out and started her own family, and Mary Ellen would Facetime every night to see her grandson Liam. She would Facetime during her lunch times too, to see him when Nina started work.

Mary Ellen loved a clean house – many would say you could eat off her floor. She always had to do a big spring cleaning and then a big clean around Christmas time before she put out her decorations, which she had a lot of, it was her favorite time of year. She loved bright colors but did not like red flowers.

She loved to bring a smile to the faces of every person she came across in life. She lived to see people beaming. She was a very caring person, always making sure her family was okay. At the same time, she was always the first person to correct anyone’s bad behavior. Mary Ellen was a plain Jane, she kept to herself most of the time, but was happiest spending time with her family talking, laughing and camping. She adored her grandchildren. She will always be remembered with fond memories.

Visitation will take place at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Sunday, November 11th, 2018 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. The service will follow. A reception gathering will take place immediately following the funeral service. A private cremation will take place.
