McConnell BrendanMcCONNELL, Brendan - Peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.

Brendan McConnell, dearly beloved husband of the late Anna.

Beloved father of Brenda and her husband David Cooney, Michael McConnell and his wife Bernadette, and Josephine and her husband Steve Clegg.

Loving grandfather of Andrea, Michelle, Christine, Ryan and Adam.

Brendan was born in County Meath, Ireland in 1924. He was a legacy as the last surviving sibling in his very large family of 10 brothers and 1 sister.

He met Anna McDonnell and they married in 1954. They lived in Coventry, England before immigrating to Toronto, Canada in 1957 with toddler Brenda in tow. Brendan joined the Local 853 Sprinkler Fitters of Ontario. He worked as a Sprinkler Fitter for his entire working career.

In 1968, Brendan and Anna purchased a cottage at Wasaga Beach. Here, the many family memories began. Brendan loved the cottage life and the beach especially the waves. Many visits from the Irish and American families over the years at the cottage. Always a good story and a laugh ensued.

Brendan and brother Jim always had a project on the go to keep them busy. Brendan continued to live his last 8 years on his own in the family home.

Many thanks to the fabulous caregivers: Clair, Audrey and Martha.

Brendan will always be in the hearts of those who knew him as the kind, considerate, generous and humble man that he was with his lovely Irish accent.

He will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, family and friends in Canada, Ireland, England, and United States.

Resting at the Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, toronto on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Benedict Church, 2194 Kipling Avenue, on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 12 noon. Interment at Woodbridge.
