Golick GretaGOLICK, Dr. Greta (née Kloosterman) - Died peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the age of 62.

Greta is survived by her husband Steven, her children Robert and Danyse, her siblings John, Grace, Evelyn, and Paul, along with beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.

Greta was born on July 5, 1956 near Athens, Ontario to Anna and Harmen Kloosterman.

 

She graduated top of her class with a degree in nursing. She moved to Florida to work as an operating room nurse at North Miami General Hospital. While working full time, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Barry University.

Greta met her future husband, Steven, and moved to Montreal to start their life together. They married in 1982 and moved to Toronto in 1983, where she pursued her career at Toronto East General Hospital and Women's College Hospital.

After the birth of her son and daughter, she obtained a Masters of Information Studies from the University of Toronto and was awarded the Ellen Sharf Prize, Research Collections and Canadiana. She later obtained a PhD from the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto.

She has had dozens of papers and book reviews published and presented at numerous international conferences. Greta also devoted much of her time to not-for-profits including many years as secretary to the Bibliographical Society of Canada and as co- chair of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild.

The family would like to thank the exceptional medical teams and staff at the Odette Cancer Centre and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for their exemplary care, dedication, compassion and kindness during this journey.

Funeral services will be held at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, Toronto for service on Thursday, November 29th at 2:30 p.m. Burial, following the funeral. An informal shiva/open house will be held at 326 Betty Ann Drive, from Thursday November 29 - Sunday December 2 between 7 - 9 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Greta's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either: the Odette Cancer Program via Sunnybrook Foundation or the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library through The Friends of the Fisher Library.
