McCARTY, Sister Anne (Mary Denis), IBVM - Died peacefully at Michael Garron (Toronto East General Hospital) on Friday, December 7, 2018.
Sister was in her 94th year of life and 70 years as a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters).
Born in Stratford, Ontario, Sr. Anne was the daughter of the late Matthew Denis McCarty and the late Jessie Smith.
She was predeceased by her brother Rev. Frank J. McCarty, CSB; her sister Mary (McCarty) Purcell; and her brother-in-law Robb Purcell.
She is survived by nieces Anne Marie Munden, Rita Voigt, Leone McNeelands (Sam), Mary Jo Brownell (Norm) and nephews Francis Purcell (Late Judy), Dennis Purcell and Tom Purcell (late Nancy) and many grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
Sister Anne was a long-time teacher and Principal in Toronto, Fort Erie, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, the Gore, Dufferin-Peel and Brampton.
She also served as a Religious Education Consultant with the Dufferin-Peel Separate School Board. On retirement from teaching, she did Parish Ministry at St. Anthony of Padua, Bramalea for nine years and then volunteered with the Catholic Biblical Association in Toronto for the next seven years.
Friends may call at The Chapel of Presentation Manor, 61 Fairfax Crescent (St. Clair and Warden) from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m.
