De Zylva Adhihetty HanneloreDe ZYLVA ADHIHETTY, Hannelore 'Anna' - It is with the utmost sadness that the family of Hannelore (Anna) De Zylva Adhihetty announces her passing on December 8th, 2018 at the age of 81 with family members by her side after a valiant two-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Hannelore was the wife of the late Vincent Charles De Zylva Adhihetty.

She is survived by her 3 children Karl (Erna), Merlyn (Harry), Peter (Anna-Maria), her sister Heike (Gunter), and 8 grandchildren, Angelina (Kieron), Tasha, Karlon, Anastasia (Allan), Theodora, Naiyah, Jackie and Nathan.

Hannelore was a fiercely loving mother, adoring grandmother, an unwaveringly devoted partner. Hannelore was born in Lauenburg, Germany where as a child she endured tremendous hardships associated with WWII which molded her into a resilient, practical and unyielding individual and provided her with extraordinary life perspective.

Hannelore met her husband Vincent while working in England, and moved to his home country of Sri Lanka. After a brief period in Germany, Hannelore and her family settled in Toronto, CAN.

During her professional career, Hannelore was an exemplary and dedicated administrator at York University where she received a 25-year service award and also matriculated with her BA in Philosophy as a part-time student. Hannelore was a collegial and caring co-worker who established close friendships lasting until the end of her life.

Over the last year, Hannelore was a vibrant resident at Sunrise Aurora Senior Living Center where she loved to dance, sing, and partake in daily activities. Caregivers at Sunrise told the family they will miss her energy, laughter, and mischievous acts, and our family sincerely thank them for their wonderful care.

In keeping with Hannelore’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Friends are welcomed to the home of Merlyn Ghizas at 44 Ballard Cres., Newmarket, ON, on December 14th between 4-10 pm to visit with family and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that donations be made in memory of Hannelore to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (please visit alzheimer.ca for details). Arrangements entrusted with Jerrett funeral home, 6191 Yonge St., Toronto.
