Thompson CharlesTHOMPSON, Charles Vernon  - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Vern passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019, in his 93rd year, surrounded by his loving family.

Vern is survived by his wife Ruth, with whom he shared an incredible 70-year adventure.

Vern's love of life will live on through his family: Children - Lyn (Bob), Don (Janice) and Jan (Colin); Grandchildren - Brad, (Kim), Kelly (Sean), DJ (Pattie), Jodi, Jackson (Chelsea), Riley (John); and Great-Grandchildren - Kate, Owen, Jax, Jaime, Blake and Delaney. At age 17, Vern met Ruth near the family cottage at Eastbourne, Lake Simcoe, where four generations have cherished memories of times spent on the golf course, at the lake, laughter on the front porch and cocktails at Vern's bar.

Vern was a successful entrepreneur and mentor who attributed his success to common sense and treating others with respect.

Vern's secret to a life well-lived is to surround yourself with family, friends, music and always a scotch or two before dinner.

Vern had a unique way of making everyone feel special. He lit up every room he entered and will be missed beyond words.

There will be a private family service and a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Vern's memory may be made to Clearwater Farms clearwaterfarms.ca.
