HANES, James Terence (Terry) - September 25, 1922 - January 14, 2019
Terry Hanes passed away peacefully in his 97th year.
Beloved husband of Vi, loving father of Carolyn Major (Doug), and the late Barbara Hanes-Kennedy (Jim), devoted grandpa of Jennifer Wilson (Mark), Katie Major-Austin (Jamie), Patrick Kennedy and Adam Kennedy; and adoring great-grampy to Finley, Braeden and Isaac.
He will be remembered fondly by his extended family including his many nieces and nephews.
Born in Toronto, Terry graduated from Lawrence Park Collegiate and enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces at age 18 to assist in the war effort.
After training, he was stationed in Australia and the South Pacific for the duration of WWII where he installed and maintained radar and radio equipment, gathering radio messages from the region and transmitting them to the allies.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be held at a future date.
