LANDRY, Eric Joseph Damien  -  It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Eric Landry on March 17, 2019 with his family by his side.

Eric was the loving husband and best friend to Anna (nee Marchetti) and proud father to Mireille (Chris), Patrick (Alaina), and Sarah (Will). Devoted grandpa to Simon, Sophie, Alfie, Enzo and Nora.

He was the caring son to the late Gerard Landry and Marguerite (nee Niles) and much-loved brother to Bernard (Lucille), Benoit (Yvonne), Leo (Pauline), Ginette, and Leonette (Bobby). He will be dearly missed by his mother-in-law, Irma Marchetti, whom he helped care for in recent months, as well as in-laws Alvaro and Francine. Eric will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Eric was proud of his Acadian roots – he was born in Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick, on November 13, 1950 to a large and lively family. He went on to join the military and it is through one of his comrades that he met the love of his life Anna, to whom he was married for 45 good years. Shortly after their marriage, Eric moved on to make a career in the mining industry for nearly 40 years. In only his recent retirement, he accompanied his wife on trail walks, enjoyed the simple pleasures of life by making good meals and hand selecting an accompanying wine from his collection. He loved to travel, particularly via cruise ship, play board games, host dinner parties and spend quality time with his wife and family. Eric was a kind, loving, dependable and generous man, always ready care for his grandchildren and share a hearty laugh with everyone around him. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humour and the levity he brought to all occasions.

A Celebration of life will be held at Taylor’s Funeral Home, in Newmarket on March 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm.

Eric’s family would like to thank the medical team at St. Michael’s Hospital’s Trauma and Neurosurgery ICU for their outstanding care and compassion.

For those who wish to honour Eric’s memory, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Hospital.
