Lougheed RuthLOUGHEED, Ruth Elizabeth (Jackson)  -  (July 21, 1950 - March 17, 2019)  -  Ruth was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, sister and daughter and a doting Grandmother. 

Predeceased by her father Harold Jackson, she will be deeply missed by her husband Richard, her son Michael, daughter in law Jill, grandchildren Marcus and Sophie, mother Bertha Jackson (Hunking), brother Philip and his wife Nancy, sisters Mary-Lou and her husband Shane, Lois and her husband Ken and Janice and her husband Dean.

Ruth’s devotion to family extended well beyond her nearest relatives and her loss will be mourned by her many nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

An educator for nearly five decades she spent many years in the classroom teaching kindergarten through grade eight before retiring as a principal in the Christian school system. However, retirement would not last long as Ruth’s passion for teaching would resume when she took on a new challenge becoming a Blind/low vision teacher for the Toronto District School Board.  Until the time of her sudden death Ruth continued to take great joy in educating as part of the Blind/Low Vision team in the York District School Board.

Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, on Friday March 22nd from 5pm-8pm. Service will be held at Markham Missionary Church,  5438 Major Mackenzie Dr E, Markham, ON on Saturday, March 23rd at 1pm. Visitation at the church 1 hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to York Region District School Board’s Blind Low Vision Services.  Please make cheques payable to YRDSB Trust and include your address on the cheque. Cheques may be sent to Kevin Stewart, York Region District School Board, 300 Harry Walker Parkway South, Newmarket, ON L3Y 8E2.
