Lovatsis LouieLOVATSIS, Elias “Louie” Lovatsis - Born in Kraniona, Kastoria, Greece on November 12, 1945 to Nickolas and Sofia Lovatsis. Passed away suddenly at the age of 73 on March 19, 2019 at Michael Garron Hospital.

Loving husband of Theresa “Terri” for 51 years.

Beloved father of Nick (Mary) and Sophie (Bruce).

Cherished grandfather of Eloisa (David), Amanda and Nickolas.

Adoring great-grandfather of Marissa and David.

Survived by brother John (Susan) and Dorothy (the late Dany).

Louie was also a beloved uncle, cousin, friend, neighbour and co-worker.

Louie loved his job as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the City of Toronto for 44 years; having started his career in East York. He was well known and liked in the Topham Park Community and was jokingly referred to by some as “Leapin’ Lou”.

He took pride in keeping the neighbourhood clean and was revered by many for his sweeping and salting of the roads. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians (Habs) hockey team and would spend countless hours shouting at the TV over European soccer.

Louie had a fondness for a neat head of hair, leading close friends and family to lovingly tease him by dishevelling it. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the medical professionals at Michael Garron Hospital for their attentive care.

Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 2-4& 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held in St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral, 76 Overlea Blvd, Toronto on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 10 am. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
