MACKERROW, Alice 'Janet'  -  Died peacefully on Thursday March 21, 2019 at the Waterford Retirement Community in Barrie having lived a full life to the age of 95.

She was predeceased by parents Robert and Mary, brothers Bob and Bill, and sister Betty.

She will be fondly remembered by cousins Debbie, Michael and his wife Ingrid, and her many friends and neighbours.

She was born in Toronto and moved to a farm in Kleinburg, Ontario with her family in 1934. After the death of her parents she moved with her sister Betty to a country property not far from the farm. She was always willing to lend a hand to those in need whether old or young. Over the years, she volunteered at Kleinburg Binder Twine Festival and at the Pennywise Thrift Shop in Woodbridge. She enjoyed working at McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinburg where she indulged in her secret pastime of 'people watching'. She became an active member of the Woodbridge Horticultural Society and was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Kleinburg. After Betty died in 1991, she fulfilled her desire to travel by visiting Europe, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. She moved to the Waterford in Barrie in 2014 where she became endeared to staff and residents alike, and where she continued to maintain her many long-time friendships. People will miss her for her quick wit, dry sense of humour and kind heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Cremation has taken place. A service in celebration of her life will be held at Cornerstone Church in Kleinburg at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 2nd. The church will be open from 10:00 am.
