Agriropuloa SpirosARGIROPULOS, Spiros Traikos - November 5, 1932 – April 17, 2019 - On April 17 just after midnight, Spiros Argiropulos passed away peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital with his beautiful wife Zenobia by his side. He was surrounded by his family and their love until his last breath.

Spiros hailed from the small village of Antartiko, Greece and spent much of his childhood in Yugoslavia. As a teenager, he bought a one-way ticket to Toronto to begin a new life with his brothers George, Tommy and sister Fana.

Pursuing an education at the University of Toronto and a career in tax accounting was his calling (and he was brilliant at it).

Spiros and Zenobia (his love and wife for 55 years) were always together. No matter where they lived (Athens, Willowdale, North York, Ikaria or Simcoe), they built a home centred on that love, respect, and family first and foremost.

Their legacy lives on in their four children, their spouses and grandchildren: Karin, husband John, children Stephen, Marisa, Trevor and Troy Atkinson, Kelly, husband John, children Sophia and Jack Dykes, Jonathan, and Laura, husband Michael, step-children Morgan and Michaela Strait.

Predeceased by his father Traikos, mother Velika, brothers Bill, George and Tommy, and niece Mary.

Spiros was happiest around his family. His legendary BBQ’s and gatherings were an open house for all to enjoy. He loved to golf, socialize with dear friends, and watch his beautiful grandchildren grow. It was music to his ears to hear them call out ‘Papou come watch me play’.

He never ventured outside without his hat. Always had a tissue in his pocket. And had a heart of gold that anyone who had the pleasure to meet him felt. He was generous, intuitive, and didn’t hold back when quizzing his future son-in-laws about their intentions with his daughters.

Spiros and Zenobia were fortunate to spend many summers in Ikaria, Greece. This was their restorative place where they were surrounded by extended family and friends, the warm Aegean Sea, and sunshine for days. Ikaria is where Spiros will be laid to rest.

Please join us for a celebration of his life on Saturday, April 20 at the Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto. Prayers and visitation will be from 1:00pm - 3:00pm with a reception to follow until 5:00pm.

In lieu of floral tributes, please consider a donation to the Pan-Icarian Foundation.
