LONGSWORTH, Maurice William - Born in Belize City, Belize (formerly British Honduras), Maurice William Longsworth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital, Scarborough, Ontario.
Maurice was loved and cherished by his wife, Esther Carlotta Longsworth (nee Flores), by his children, Karen (Johnny), Camille (Glenn), Philip (Wendy), Francine (Richard), Stuart (Analy) and Michelle (Anderson), by his thirteen grandchildren, by his five great-grandchildren and by his brother, Bertram Sr.
Maurice worked for the Government of Belize and then the Government of Ontario after immigrating to Canada in 1969 at which time he became one of the earliest kidney transplant recipients in Canada. He went on to defy medical odds as a kidney transplant survivor of 50 years. Maurice never took the gift of life for granted and enjoyed that life to the fullest. Over the years, he visited his beloved Belize many times with his family and most recently, in 2016.
Maurice will be greatly missed by many family and friends. We take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his dear parents, Maurice Sr. and Lorraine, brother, Bernard Sr., and sister, Joyce.
Visitation will be held at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, 2900 Kingston Rd., Toronto, On, on Tuesday, May 28th, from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm. Chapel Service will be held at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, on Wednesday, May 29th, at 1pm.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario or The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
