MARIN, Gladys Estela  -  After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Gladys Estela Marin passed away peacefully on June 16, 2019 at the age of 65.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Raul Marin; their sons, John Henry and Richard Anthony and their daughter Michelle.

Gladys was born on March 22, 1954 in Coquimbo, Chile to father Hugo Vergara and mother Rosa Ossandon who predeceased her.

Gladys married Raul on October 30, 1971. They lived in Chuquicamata, Chile before settling in Toronto, Canada. There, Gladys and Raul raised their three children; John, Richard and Michelle.

Gladys was a devoted mother and grandmother. She put family first. She loved spending time with family and her many friends often hosting big dinners to share her love with some good Chilean wine and her wonderful cooking. Despite having lived in Canada for so long, she never forgot her family and friends in Chile, whom she visited frequently.

Gladys was diagnosed with cancer in April 2018. She fought with grace and dignity, often giving us lessons in positivity and persistence. Gladys’ strength, courage and determination told us there’s always a reason to enjoy life to the fullest.

Gladys is survived by her husband, three children and seven grandchildren, Nicole, Diego, Marcos, Lucas, Milan, Laneah and Elsie; daughter-in-law Cynthia (Richard) and numerous nieces and nephews in Chile.

As per Gladys’ wishes, she will be interred close to her grandson, James (Richard and Cynthia) at Pine Hills Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff for all their care and dedication; and all the countless friends that have reached out and supported us during this difficult time.

She will be forever missed.

Viewing will be held at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, Scarborough Chapel, on Saturday, June 22nd, from 5pm to 8pm, and on Sunday, June 23rd, from 1pm to 4pm, and on Monday, June 24th, from 10am to 11am. Graveside Service at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto, ON., on Monday, June 24th, from 11:30 am to 12pm.
