Furukawa AkiFURUKAWA, Akira 'Aki' - Passed away in his 87th year on June 22, 2019 at Etobicoke General Hospital from complications of Alzheimer’s.

He was surrounded by Naomi, his wife of 61 yrs and his children, Rob, Vicki and Cindy, who will greatly miss him.

He is predeceased by his parents (Chuzo and Mina) and his brothers Minoru (Min) and Kiyoshi (Kiyo).

Aki leaves behind his siblings Isao (Isa), Sakura (Sherry), Takashi (Pepsi), Hiroshi (Peewee) and Midori.

He will be fondly remembered by all of his relatives and friends.

Aki enjoyed family get togethers, playing poker, horse races, watching the Blue Jays,Raptors, Yankees, and visiting friends in addition to his earlier years of bowling, listening to jazz music, playing and coaching basketball. He was also a past board member of the original JCCC.

After being limited by Alzheimer’s, he enjoyed spending time with the family and attending family functions when he was able and occasionally watching his favorite television programs.

A special thank you to Carol Campbell, Aki's PSW who he loved to joke with and always made him laugh. Aki cherished the relationships with those close to him. His unique sense of humour will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada to support research in Aki’s memory will be appreciated.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
