Raposo JordalinaRAPOSO, Jordalina Do Couto - Passed away on Sunday, July 7th at the age of 93 with family by her side.

A proud Portuguese-Canadian, she was born in São Miguel and immigrated to Toronto in 1961 with her young family in tow. They first lived with an Italian family who taught Jordalina to speak Italian, which she used in later years when walking her grandchildren to and from a predominantly Italian school.

She devoted her life to caring for others including her children Guilhermina (Graciano) and Dimas Jr (Grace); her grandchildren Graciano Jr, Amanda, Mike, Brian, and Christine; and great-grandchildren Adriana and Logan who provided her with such joy and laughter in her final days.

Although we will miss her unwavering love and support, we are comforted knowing that she will be reunited in heaven with her late husband, Dimas Raposo and other beloved family members.

Her care for others and generosity knew no bounds. She volunteered her daughter to keep her elderly neighbours company, ran an unofficial community daycare for all her friend’s and family’s children, and gave her famous homemade bolo lêvedo and malasadas to everyone she knew.

Her favourite story to tell her grandchildren was about a little boy in Portugal who didn't eat and so he died, which convinced them to eat whatever she put in front of them.

For their care and compassion, we extend our deep gratitude to the team of PSWs, nurses, doctors, and professionals who looked after Jordalina. A special thanks to PSW Joan who lovingly washed her hair and always loudly announced herself which brought a smile to her face.

As we say farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, we know she will be looking over us and forever remain in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, Bathurst Chapel, Toronto on July 14, 2019 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The service will take place at St. Jane Frances De Chantal Church, 2747 Jane Street, North York on July 15, 2019 at9:30 AM.

If desired the family would appreciated memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society.
