Rodrigues EugenioRODRIGUES, Eugénio Vieira De Sousa - It is with great sadness that the family of Eugénio Vieira De Sousa Rodrigues announces his passing at Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the age of 66 years.

He now joins his son, Eugénio, parents, Guilherme and Maria Natália, and brother, Augusto, in heaven.

Eugénio worked hard all his life starting at a young age in Portugal to help his parents and their family.

He worked on farms and on cargo boats between Pico and Faial islands before coming to Canada at the age of 19 for the opportunity to help better the life of his family.

In Canada he met his wife, with whom he had four children, one of which passed away at birth. He worked various construction jobs the rest of his life to support his family, whom he loved very much. Eugenio had an easygoing, lovable personality and was always so generous with others.

He was a very proud father and was loved very much by his family.  Eugénio leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Fernanda.

He was the cherished father of Patricia (Steve), Fernandinha and Justin and beloved grandfather of Mateus, Nathaniel and Kiara.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by many family and friends including his siblings Altina, Helio, Hilberto, Noémia, Natália, Guilherme, Carmino, Ivo and Orlindo.

“A heart of gold stopped beating, two willing hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.”

Arrangements with Cardinal Funeral Home, Toronto on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A mass will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Parish, 706 Old Weston Road, Toronto.

If desired, donations in memory of Eugénio may be made to  The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
