Sametz KatherineSAMETZ, Katherine Zenovia - It is with profound sadness that we announce that Katherine passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020 surrounded by her family at home, after a battle with an aggressive and painful cancer.

Katherine was an extremely talented, sensitive, beautiful, and giving woman.

Beloved daughter of Rosalia Sametz and the late William Sametz.

She leaves behind her devoted children Alexandra (Sasha)Jarosil (Edward Williams), James Jarosil and blessed granddaughter Klara Rose.

Dear sister of Gloria Chewchuk (Walter). Teta(aunt) to Katya Chewchuk and the late Willy Chewchuk.

Katherine was a talented concert pianist who debuted at 16 with Arthur Fiedler, Boris Brott and the Hamilton Philharmonic. She donated her talent to many events in the community.

Later in life, she pursued a career in teaching and became a beloved primary school teacher who made an impact on countless colleagues and students.

She loved her Ukrainian heritage and her Faith. Katherine was the granddaughter of a pioneer priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, The Very Rev. Dr. Peter Sametz and Dobr Katherine.

The children would like to thank Dr Mak, Dr Dhani, Dr Milosevic and the entire team at Princess Margaret Cancer Center for their care. And a special thank you to her Nurse Practitioner Alice Luk and her home care nurse Alexandria for their immeasurable support, care and love in her final months and hours.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions and under direction from our regulator, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, effective November 23, 2020 all funerals and visitations will be by invitation only to limit the number of people in attendance and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The panachyda and funeral service will be private due to Covid-19 restrictions. The funeral will be closed to the public from attending in person. Private internment will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to St Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral or to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre will be appreciate.
