Irwin JohnIRWIN, John Edward - Passed away peacefully, entering his heavenly home, on January 4, 2021.

Beloved husband of Ruby for over 61 years.

Loving father to daughter Donna and son Paul.

Devoted grandfather to Raphael and Isabella.

John was born in Ottawa on July 8, 1932. He was the honouring eldest son to his parents John and Irene (both predeceased) and a caring older brother to siblings Patricia, David, Robert (predeceased) and Eleanor.

A devoted family man, John was committed to providing a secure, happy, and loving home for his wife and children. He enjoyed road trips and led family adventures to Canada’s east and west coasts – and from Florida to Alaska.

John was fond of the great outdoors, cross-country skiing and Rideau canal skating in the winter and taking long hikes in the summer. After retiring from his career with MetLife Insurance Company, John and Ruby moved to Calgary to work with Wycliffe Bible Translators, which led to year-round alpine adventures in the Rocky Mountains.

John was a respected and well-loved member within his church and local community in Ottawa, Calgary, Guelph, and Markham. He contributed to a range of Christian ministries and charities and generously supported those in need.

John’s kind and gentle spirit and his warm smile will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Thanks to the professional team at Fieldstone Commons in Scarborough for their attentive care for John during the past twenty months.

An online funeral service will be held on Monday, January 11th at 1:00pm (EST) throuhg Chapel Ridge Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in his honour.
