Widdrington MichaelWIDDRINGTON, David ‘Michael’ Tinling - It is with great sadness, we grieve the sudden passing of Mike Widdrington, at the age of 84 on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket.

Loving son of the late Marjorie McDonald, Gerard Widdrington, and brother Peter Widdrington. He leaves behind his best friend & pet, ‘Joey’ who provided endless affection and inseparable companionship.

Beloved father of Stephen (Joanne Dobson), Cheryl (Bill Bowen) and Michael (Lara Sigurdson). Proud Poppa to his grandchildren Michael Peter (Gabby), Andrew (Amber), Christopher (Tabitha), Zachary, Kelsey, Kyle, Spencer, Skylar and Cooper. Great-grandfather to Paisley, Caleb and Liam. Loving Uncle to Lucinda and Stacy (Bill Belgue).

Mike has touched the lives of countless others who remember him as kind-hearted, with a socially dynamic personality blessed with a sense of humour that brightened everyone’s day. In his later years, he was a familiar and welcome face within the Newmarket Main Street community and local dog park. He enjoyed entertaining many with his quick wit and colourful stories.

Mike was born in Toronto and was educated at Pickering College, Ashbury College, and Ryerson University. He began his career in sales at CKVR News in Barrie and continued his success at ATV News in Halifax and CHUM Limited Radio and Television in Toronto.

Mike was well known for his passion of sport and was an impressive expert at sports trivia. He was an avid hockey and slow-pitch participant for many years and a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Buffalo Bills.

We will miss him dearly; his charm and vivid spirit will carry on in the hearts of many.

Special thanks to Brian Balogh for welcoming Joey into his family with love.

Arrangements entrusted with Roadhouse and Rose funeral home, Newmarket. There will be a memorial service when it is safe to do so. Mike will be laid to rest alongside his parents at the Newmarket Cemetery.

If desired, donations in memory of Mike can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or your local Ontario SPCA & Humane Society.
