SPARKS, Blair Gerome - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Blair Gerome Sparks, in Ontario, after a lengthy illness with cancer. Blair passed at home on January 13, 2021, the day after his 64th birthday.
He was born in Cherry Brook on January 12, 1957, to the late Ernest and Olive Mae (nee Thomas) Sparks. He attended school at Humber Park Elementary and Sir Robert Borden Junior High.
Blair moved to Toronto in his late teens, where he worked and lived his adult life.
He was employed as a truck driver at A & D Trucking up until he became ill.
Blair always took time for his children, and when he was not working he enjoyed hanging out with friends, showing-off his sound system, and playing cards and chess. He was a master chess player. Blair was fun-loving and easy-going; he had no enemies. Some of his best friends growing-up were: Floyd Bundy, first Cousin, Larry Sparks, Royce Johnston, Roger Johnson, and Wade Ross. Blair and his younger brother, Lloyd, were ‘joined at the hip’ you did not see one without the other.
Blair was known for his BIG Afro, infectious smile, and his orange Chevy Nova.
Blair did not make a public confess of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, but we always knew where his heart was. When you talked to him about the salvation he would often say: “I know what I have to do.” We pray he did the right thing and made peace with his Lord.
Blair was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and his brothers: George and Ernest, Jr.
He is survived by his brothers: David (Dartmouth), Cyril (Delores), Dartmouth, Lloyd, Toronto; and sister, Dale, Toronto. His children: Nadine (Rae), Newfoundland, Monic, Toronto, Vadrell (Jenni), Toronto. Three grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the Michael Garron Hospital, who cared for our brother during his illness.
Cremation will take place by Giffen Mack Funeral Home, Danforth chapel, Toronto.
