Jeffrey GladysJEFFREY, Gladys Eugenia (Purchase) - March 26, 1924 - January 21, 2021 - Gladys passed away peacefully on January 21st at the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor in Toronto.

She was the courageous and determined matriarch of the Jeffrey family and had a beautiful spirit and a joyous sense of humour.

Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Walter Roy Jeffrey, her sister, Dorothy Rose Shears (Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia), and her parents, Tobias and Sarah (Hicks) Purchase.

She was born in Halifax and settled in Toronto when she was 26.

Gladys is survived by her son, Wayne, daughter, Lynne, and her grandchildren, Paul (Rodica), Sarah (Gabriel), Mark (Ellen), Jimmy (Ashley), Melissa (Alex), in addition to her great-grandchildren, Grace, Thomas, Evelyn, and Aidan.

She is also remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Joan Breakey-Jeffrey, her nieces and nephews, their extended families, and her godchildren Kim, Karen, and Jan Gray.

Gladys was steadfast in her faith and a longtime member of the North Toronto Corps of the Salvation Army. She was well loved by her family, community, neighbours and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gladys' memory to The Salvation Army, North Toronto Community Church, C/O St. Peter's Estonian Church, 817 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Toronto M4P 2Z4. 

A celebration of life will occur when it is safe to do so. She will be greatly missed.
