Christie BarabaraCHRISTIE, Barabara Jean (nee TOMLINSON)    - September 4, 1934 - January 20, 2021

Barbara Christie (nee Tomlinson) born in Toronto, beloved wife of Edward (predeceased) our mother whom we adore and lost suddenly.

She was a unique vibrant soul, beautiful inside and out.

She cared about people and took the time to really talk to them.

Wherever she went, people she had connected with were happy to see her, give her a wave and a smile or have a quick chat, something she truly enjoyed.

She loved people! She lived a full life while raising six active children and working full time.

She was a friend to her children and their friends while still being a strong disciplinarian, which gained her our absolute respect and love.

We are devastated at losing her, especially in this time where she cannot be properly celebrated and we cannot properly celebrate her life.

She was a devout Anglican who loved the fellowship that church brought and the many friends that she made there.

We know that she was greeted into God's kingdom by her husband, our father Edward, her parents Tom and Lillian, brother Ralph who adored her and her nephew Derek who left us too soon.

She is also in the company of her many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she always made sure to include in our life and her own.

We are devastated at losing her, love and miss her but know that she is now surrounded in the love in heaven that she had in life.

We are less without her, but strong because of her. Her loving children Debbie (Ron), Mark (Ben), Danielle, Tara (Mark), Matthew (Renée), Nicole (Domenic) and grandchildren Hayley, Amanda, Lorne, great-grandchildren, Lily and Alyssa, sister-in-law Marie (Bruce) and loving aunt to Kevin (Jeanette), Jeff and Brenda (John), Tracy (Derek), Darlene, David, great-aunt to Kyle, Cassandra, Olivia, Ruby and Jasmin and so many others.

Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, a service Celebrating her life will be held in May (date TBD) at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Blackburn Hamlet on Navan Road, Ottawa. Reception to follow.

To share memories and receive updated service information, please visit the Hulse Playfair & McGarry website.

Contributions, in lieu of flowers, to the Ottawa Heart Institute and Canadian Cancer Society.
