DIMARIA, Gaetano - Showed great strength and courage over the past few years. At the age of 92, he passed away on February 3, 2021 and is now at peace.
He will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 64 years, Maria.
He will always be cherished by his children Antoinette (John), Michael (Susan), Enza (Tony), and Matteo (Jennifer).
Very proud Nonno to Mark (Jessica), Nicholas, Matthew (Melissa), Luke, Cassandra, Aaron (Valerie), Christian, Joseph, Liana, Lyssa, Maceo and Talia.
Adored great-grandfather to Sebastian, Gabriel and Jake. They were all his pride and joy.
He will always be remembered by his brother, 8 sisters, & many in-laws (both still with us and gone) and friends in the Arlington & St. Clair West neighbourhoods.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many caregivers who have loved and cared for Gaetano as their own “Nonno”.
Gaetano immigrated to Canada and landed at Pier 21 in Nova Scotia on June 1954, and then was followed by his wife Maria. Both took the incredibly brave 5-week journey on the Italian Vulcania passenger ship in search of a new life in Toronto. They both demonstrated a tremendous dedication to their DiMaria Food Market business of 33 years. We will always have fond memories of visiting or working at the store.
He will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.
Arrangementes with DeMarco Funeral Visitation Centre Woodbridge on Monday February 8, 2021. A private chapel service and entombment will be taking place on Monday February 8, 2021 with immediate family members only.
Donations will be gladly accepted by The Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto and the Heart and Stoke Foundation in Gaetano’s honour. Thank you.
