Bowen GeorgeBOWEN, George Aston - With heavy hearts, the family of George Aston Bowen announces his passing on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 83.

Beloved and devoted spouse to Nellie Mansfield for over 40 years. Loving father to Jeannine, Darnell, Jessica, Nicole, David, Sharon, Patrick, Natasha and Devon.

Cherished grandfather to 38 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and dear brother to Floretta, Millicent, Benjamin and Louise.

George was a hardworking and dedicated family man. He had a kind and caring nature and would give you the shirt off his back. But he also had a firm side – always setting an example for his children to be the best they could be. He loved many sports and could often be found in front of the TV cheering on his Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. But most of all, he was always cheering on his beloved Nellie. He always stood by her side, even during multiple surgeries, he “moved in” to the hospital waiting room to ensure she wasn’t alone.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many friends and family.

Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W., Etobicoke (416-259-3705) on Friday from 1:45-7:00 pm. A private funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Meadowvale Cemetery.

*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the capacity of the funeral home facilities are limited. Guests wishing to attend must select a time slot by registering on the Sign Up Link on the funeral home website. Those not registered may have to wait to be admitted as space permits.

*All guests are expected to wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.

“Even in the toughest moments, he would always lighten the mood
to put a smile on your face and make a joke.”
