HRYCYSHYN, Anna - On the evening of February 14, 2021, Anna passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
Anna was born in Losie, Lemkivshchyna on August 9, 1923 to Ivan Jewusiak and Anastasia Szlanta.
The second oldest of six siblings, the hard-working family lived well in their selo until 1947, when they were forcibly deported to western Poland under the communist government operation “Aktsia Visla.”
There she lived with her family in a war-torn building, until she alone was able to emigrate to Canada in 1960.
Upon her arrival in Toronto, Anna met Mychailo Hrycyshyn, they soon wed on June 6, 1964, and were blessed with two sons, Roman and Myron. Eventually, the couple were able to sponsor Anna’s mother Anastasia, her brother Mychailo, sister Stefania, and sister Maria with her family to Canada.
She leaves to mourn her husband Mychailo, sons Myron and Roman with daughter-in-law Lesia, grandchildren Oriyana (Scott Hayward), Adriyan, Tamara, Lukiyan and Inessa, sister Stefania Szykula, sister-in-law Maria Jewusiak, and extended family in Canada, United States and Poland.Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Church of the Holy Protection, and Anna will be laid to rest in Oakville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Protection.
