Macrae EdwardMACRAE, Edward Arthur - (1942 - 2021) -After a hard fought battle with cancer, Edward passed away peacefully with family by side on February 13, 2021.

Born November 4, 1942, in London, England. Edward is survived by his wife Rosemary Macrae, married in 1962; they celebrated 59 years together.

Predeceased by siblings; James Macrae, and Derek Macrae. He is survived by sibling Susan Mills (David) of Surrey England. His children: Derek Macae (Caroline Bourassa), Ian Macrae (Beth), Michelle Macrae-Fenech (Sylvain), his Grandchildren: Erin, Devon, Ethan, Simon, and cherished by his extended family and friends.

Special thanks to the oncology and ICU departments at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga.

Edward and Rosemary Macrae immigrated to Canada from England in November 1966 with their 2 young sons Derek aged 4 and Ian only 18 months old. They landed in Montreal before making their way to Brampton to start a new opportunistic life.

Edward was very eager to find work and provide for his family and found employment at the American Motors Corporation in Brampton and ironically ran into some old mates he had worked with at Vauxhall motors in Luton, England. Unfortunately after only a few weeks he was laid off. Not to be deterred, Edward took on various jobs including driving taxis, before taking ownership of Flowertown dry cleaners satellite store. Ed would pick up and deliver dry cleaning from households throughout Brampton and Bramalea, while his wife Rosemary would tend to the store, while raising 2 small boys, quite often at the store. They had a third child, Michelle in March of 1971.

After approximately 5 years the dry cleaning business became less viable, Ed decided to find more stable employment with health benefits for his family. He started as a Car courier at the airport and then finding a job with Panalpina world Transport at the airport. handling import and export airfreight. After a couple of years at the airport location Ed was transferred to the ocean freight facility where he continued to work until his retirement in 2009.

Edward and Rosemary have resided in the village green co-op in Brampton since 1977 and appreciate the friendship and support from their neighbours within.

During his life, Edward was a very social person and was involved with the Canadian friends and family overseas association in the 1970's bringing new Canadians together and planning family picnics and dances. Edward loved to travel and enjoyed taking his family on vacations back to England, Florida and numerous camping trips throughout Ontario. He was always up for taking his family on new adventures to Niagara Falls, Ontario place, the CNE, etc.

Edward enjoyed playing darts at the Legion and various leagues for many years, but mostly enjoyed socializing and having a pint with friends. Edward had great sense of humour and was quick witted.

He loved and adored his grandkids Erin, Devon, Ethan and Simon and really enjoyed when they came to visit.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted with Ward funeral homes.
