STONEMAN, James Ronald 'Ron' - (October 24, 1927 – March 5, 2021) - Ron passed away peacefully at home at the age of 93.
The Stoneman family cannot adequately express their appreciation for the love and generosity of Marilyn Butters, who opened her home to Ron and was his loyal friend, loving companion and compassionate caregiver for many years.
Ron led a very full and active life, generously volunteering his time in all the communities where he lived: he was an elder in both Emmanuel and Queensville United churches, treasurer for home and school associations, and on the board for the local chapter of Certified General Accountants.
His interest in music, art, Scottish country dancing and theatre made for an extremely full social calendar and created many long-lasting friendships.
Ron had an adventurous spirit. He was the first of his family to purchase a piece of property in the Kawarthas and build his own cottage; he took his wife, Joanne, and their children car-camping from one coast of Canada to the other, instilling an appreciation of history and the beauty of our country; he participated in a seniors' travel group, and he and Marilyn took a number of trips with them and on their own – in Canada, overseas and in the Caribbean. One of his last great adventures was made possible through Marilyn’s daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law Moni and their girls. They took him for a trip to a resort in Jamaica!
Ron was dedicated to family. He is survived by his youngest sister, Joyce Staveley, and by his children Jim (Carolyn), Lori, Mark (deceased), Mike (Tricia) and Ted (Jen). He has three grandchildren: Terry James, Amber and Madison, and is the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews whose names would fill this page.
The family wishes to thank Desiree Althouse of LHIN who coordinated his at-home care, the cheerful PSWs who came daily to ensure his comfort and well-being. Their dedication to the elderly and their compassion was much appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted with Roadhouse and Rose funeral home, Newmarket. Ron’s ashes will be interred in a family plot at Prospect Cemetery in Toronto at a later date.
