GOLDSTEIN, Jean (Silver) - 1921 - 2021 - Died by MAID March 25, 2021. Surrounded by family, Jean Goldstein (Silver) died with medical assistance (MAID) on March 25, 2021 in her 100th year.
Born in Toronto on September 10, 1921 she was the youngest daughter of Peretz and Sarah Silver.
Peretz came to Canada from Poland to forge a path for the family, and after seven years of hard work in Toronto, was able to bring his wife Sarah and their four children to Toronto.
The love child Jean (or Jenny as she was affectionately called), was the result of this joyous reunion.
She met her handsome flyboy Milt in 1940, the dashing RCAF navigator of Lancaster Bombers. Born Silver, went for the Gold(stein). With their movie star good looks and their Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers fluid style, they were a sight to behold on the dance floor. They had 73 happy years together until Milt died in 2013.
An exceptional matriarch, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean leaves her two children, Anne (George), Gil (Bev) and an array of nine adored and adoring grandchildren (Elie, Daniel, Josh, Alisa, Jennifer, Mary, Sarah, Maia, and Silas) and seven delightful great-grandchildren (Kyrie, Noah, Benjamin and Jacob, Thea, Felix and Sloane) who will miss their "Bubby" deeply.
Jean set her own path in life and managed to guide the end of her life with dignity, thanks to MAID (medical assistance in dying) - a wonderfully humane way to deal with the end of life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the dedicated, devoted and loving staff at Kensington Gardens, including Dr. Mark Goldstein.
Thank you also to Jean's loving caregivers over the years: Cindy, Marge, Mae Ann, Eve, and May Ann.
The family-only funeral will take place on Friday, March 26.
If desired, a donation to the Jean and Milton Goldstein Endowment Fund at Baycrest (416-785-2875) would be appreciated.
