Farrant HelenFARRANT, Helen Grace (nee BOAKES) - (1920 - 2021) - We are sad to announce that on March 23, 2021 we lost the matriarch of our family, Helen Farrant.

Helen was born in London, England on February 26, 1920.

When she was 14 she met Wally (Walter Edwin Farrant, deceased), the love of her life.

They were married in 1940, and after WWII ended, Helen and Wally settled in Canterbury, England to raise their family.

They had three children: Linda Dreischer (Norbert), David Farrant, (Anne, both deceased) and Susan Hyatt (Nigel). Helen lived a rich and full life.

Wally worked in the UK Civil Service, and Helen as a volunteer for the Red Cross in Canterbury for over 20 years. In 1969 they moved to Brussels, Belgium as Wally went to work for NATO.

They both loved living in Brussels and travelled extensively throughout Europe and North America. Wally died unexpectedly, in 1980, and Helen chose to move to Canada in 1981 to be near to two of her children.

She lived in Thornhill for the next 40 years and started a new chapter in her life, making many friends and travelling the world. She loved attending classical concerts and operas.

Helen was Oma to her eight grandchildren: Linda Mundt, Norbert Dreischer, Margit Dreischer, Mark Farrant, Amanda Brake, Richard Hyatt, Michael Hyatt and Jonathan Hyatt and 17 great-grandchildren. She adored her family and spent a lot of her time with them.

The family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor at Sunrise Retirement Residence in Thornhill for their kindness and care for Helen.

Arrangements entrusted with Kane-Jerrett funeral home. A private cremation has taken place and will be followed later by a Celebration of her life.

A friendly, kind, outgoing woman who made so many friends. A life well lived. We will miss you, Oma, so very much.
