Hough MariaHOUGH, Maria Carlota   - September 21, 1925 – March 21, 2021

Passing peacefully in her home, on the morning of March 21, 2021, Maria Carlota Vieira da Fonseca Hough, was reunited with her parents, her husband John, her son Michael, her daughter Mary, her brother Carlos and his wife Sebastiana, and her nephew Carlinhos.

Maria Carlota was born on September 21, 1925 in Sao Paulo, Brasil, to Durval Brasilino and Lucilla de Toledo Vieira Fonseca.

In her mid-20s, while attending a Spanish night-class with her best friend in Sao Paulo, she met her future husband, John, a Canadian in town for work.

Following her heart, she made the courageous decision to move to Canada and start a family.

Settling in Montreal, she experienced her first snowfall and quickly learned that it was much better enjoyed from inside the comfort of her warm home.

In 1979, Maria and the family moved to beautiful Oakville, where she took to tending to her rose garden and creating a welcoming home where family members from near and far came to live during their school and work terms.

She will be dearly missed by her son John and his wife Tina, her daughter-in-law Wendy, and her sister Stella (Ronald). Her three grandchildren Katherine, John Carlos, and Madison are going to miss their Vovo's charming broken Portuguese/English, her cozy hugs, and making brigadeiros with her.

She will be remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews Lucila Maria, Lia Helena, Mark, John, and Michael.

A special thank you to Dr. Inkster who took such great care of her for the past 42 years, her favourite driver - Georgi, and to the team at TLC (Teresa, Argelyn, Buena, Janet, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mirjana, Veselka, and others) who enabled her to live at home for so long, bringing her great comfort.

She cherished your company, sharing laughs with you, and your care.

Vá com Deus, Maria Carlota Visitation and Funeral Service took place on Thursday, March 25th.
