Zabrack CarolZABRACK, Carol Rita (Lusthaus) - Died April 17, 2021 in Toronto Canada at the age of 97.

She was born April 11, 1924 in Poland, the third of four children of Litman Lusthaus (1896-1957) and Celia Schwarz (1897-1951).

Carol left this world just as she moved through it - with lucidity, resoluteness and bravery.

Adored wife of Gordon Zabrack (1922-2004).

Carol is survived by her loving children Dr. Merle Zabrack and Bill Andrews, Barry Zabrack, and Celia Anson and Peter Anson, her grandchildren Emily Anson and Mike Bevan, Aaron Andrews and Beth Shultis, Dr. Naomi Andrews and John Hawkins, and great-grandson Elliot Shultis Andrews.

Carol was considered a friend and a second mother by countless others who looked to her for affection, advice and guidance.

Carol faced great adversity as a Jewish immigrant in a precarious time, entering school in Canada speaking no English. Supported by her family and community, she flourished despite the odds. After leaving school to help with the family business, she met Gord and it was love at first sight. They were married in 1944 and were inseparable ever after. Carol and Gord were intensely devoted, accepting and nurturing parents. Family was everything. Becoming grandparents was a dream come true.

She was the happiest when catching up with the comings and goings of her diverse flock. Her new great- grandson was a crowning delight.

Carol lived a full and remarkable life, displaying a positive attitude and enthusiasm at all times. She showed all who knew her how to live and love with great warmth, purpose and commitment. This is her legacy.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Sunrise at Thornhill who took such good care of Carol.

A Celebration of Life will be held after the pandemic. Carol's favourite charity was the MS Society of Canada.

A Family graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
