Bayerthal PeterBAYERTHAL, Hans Peter - Lovingly known as Lito Peter, died peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, April 22, 2021. He was 86.

Peter was born on February 23, 1935 in Krefeld, Germany, to a family of industrialists. His parents, Otto and Grete, Peter and grandma emigrated to Chile in 1938, thereby escaping the Nazi scourge.

Peter grew up in Chile, going to an English school and finishing a degree in business administration at the University of Chile.

Peter emigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1972. In 1977 Peter met Myriam Prizant, and his life was never the same again! Alejandro, four at the time, became the light of Peter's life. Peter and Myriam were married on February 23, 1980, and Peter got involved in every activity that Alejandro undertook: from coaching his soccer team to learning piano to encouraging his studies.

Peter was involved in the Jewish community, always volunteering to be the treasurer in every organization. Peter and Myriam lived in Vancouver until 2014, when they moved to Toronto to be close to family.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Myriam, his children and their spouses: Benjamin and Sylvia, Fanny and Mircea, Alejandro and Natalie. He's fondly loved by his six grandchildren and their partners, and 2 great- granddaughters. In Chile, he is remembered by his loving sister Veronica, his niece Daniela and nephew Sebastian and their families.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

In memory of Peter Bayerthal, please consider a donation to the following charities: The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Canadian Art Song Project.
