CHRISTIE, Cedar Townsend - "I am seeking, I am striving, I am in it with all my heart."
Vincent Van Gogh Cedar Townsend Christie's life was committed to pursuing her artistic passion, from which she never faltered.
Born on August 11, 1946, she lived to create, led a creative life and proceeded along her journey imbuing a joyful and unique aesthetic in everything she touched.
To everyone that knew her, Cedar was the living embodiment of her own inner-goddess muse.
With profound sadness we announce her last canvas is completed, brushes still, and her studio silent.
Cedar passed from the physical world on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Sidney, BC. She was 74.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Cedar studied art at OCADU and the Vancouver School of Art, earning an Honours Graduate in Sculpture and Painting, and later studied bronze sculpture casting in Italy.
A small portion of her incredible portfolio is available at www. flickr.com/photos/cedarchristie/. She lived the last 20 years in the close community on Mayne Island, BC, which she often referred to as her creative spiritual centre.
Predeceased by her mother Margot (Syme) and father Robert Christie, Cedar leaves behind her sisters Dinah and Fiona and brothers David and Matthew, close cousins Lindy Ratcliife and Ginny Immerglück, and many special friends across Canada.
A celebration of her life is planned for later this year.
We are grateful Cedar's body of work lives on with us.
