CUENCA, Celene Beloria - Celene Beloria Cuenca, the 5th child of 8, was born on June 28, 1949 to Vicente Cuenca and Carmen Beloria of Culasi, Ajuy, Province of Iloilo. Her siblings were Danny, Francisco, Joseph, Marina, Agustin, Vicente Jr. and Madoline.

Beautiful and cheerful even at a young age, her sister Marina remembers her as “a shy, sweet and lovely little girl. Being her playmate there was no instance of petty quarrel between us. Ultimately, she extended her unconditional love, great concern and endless support to her family.”; Vicente, her younger brother described her as a loving, friendly and amiable older sister. She is adored by her family and friends. while her other sister, Madoline has this to say about the young Celene: “supportive and loving sister."

Inday Len, as many fondly call her, completed her elementary education in Culasi Elementary School, her secondary at the Western Institute of Technology and finally, the course Bachelor of Science in Nursing that was to bring her outside the borders of her country at University of Iloilo.

Within time, she left the country to join her older brother, Joseph, in Canada where she worked as a Caregiver and Personal Support Worker, similar careers that she loved so much. In fact, she stayed in them for 31 years. These careers enabled her to help her growing family in the Philippines. With her other siblings still in the Philippines and dozens of nieces, nephews and grandchildren, her heart remained steadfast in helping. Throughout the course of her life, she was able to finance the education of many of them. She even helped some migrate to Canada as well. So much was her influence and generosity, that the mere mention of her name would bring “smiles” and “warmth” to anyone who hears it. The same way the moon, in its beauty and splendor brings smiles and warmth to those who gaze upon it in an otherwise cold night.

Celene lived her life happily to the fullest, surrounded and adored by her family, friends and most importantly her lifelong partner and best friend Divina with their dog Molly. Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Friend… Celene will forever be remembered for her warmth, generosity and the light she brings to those entrusted by God to her care.

We are all blessed because God made you. Now it’s your turn to be blessed by being in the arms of God. Rest in peace, Celene.
