Ruse JamesRUSE, James Davis 'Jimmy' - (March 10, 1932 - April 25, 2021) -

Any man can be a father, but it takes a special person to be a Dad.

He built hydro towers and was never afraid of heights. He used helicopters to string the power lines. He was the first to bare hand high voltage wires, he was a pioneer!
He played sports and, win or lose, was forever the sportsman...

He fished with hopes of catching “the big one” and was happy to catch a small mouth bass (and release it) with hopes of the “next cast."
He built decks and porches and sheds and walls and they never fell down.
His gardens were tended with time, love and patience and the results were beautiful, colourful and memorable.

His garage was a world class destination! Everything had its place and was the envy of every visitor.
His presence was calm, stoic and kind. He was the one everyone loved to listen to when he spoke.
His heart was warm and giving and people navigated to him to befriend him.
His love for nature would show in his bird feeders, his song birds, the chickadees that landed on his head, his voice when he witnessed a brilliant sunset, the deer that came through the property. His respect for water, for nature’s silence.

His love for Carol brought them to places around the world. To places with memories to last his lifetime. With treasures to hold and fill his mind, with good times and good people.
His love for the beach, shelling, walking with the tide, feeling the heat of the sun and loving his days in Florida, Arizona, Portugal, Dominican (50th!), Cuba (60th!) many cruises, train adventures, and always while holding Carol's hand.

His Family held his heart. His heart beat was his wife Carol, for 65 years of marriage.
His love for Carol brought them a family of 5 children. Every one of them his pride and joy
Cam, Gary (Anitha), Brian (Tracy), Sandy(John), PattiAnn (Paul), and grandchildren, Samantha (Kyle), Jordan and Ryan. His first great grandchild, due this summer, will learn all about Great Grandpa, Sam’s “Poppy."

We said our goodbyes to Dad on Sunday. He went with God quietly on his own terms and not before holding his Carol close and saying “I love you."
Our lives are different now. Our pillar of quiet strength and support is different now.
Our closely knit family is holding tight. But we know our hearts and are lives are bigger and brighter because a man we called Dad, taught us well. He loved us and we loved him and that is all that matters.
God has a new angel, and trust us when we say, everything will be in its rightful place, organized and held together forever. I believe Dad is probably building a porch right now for him and God to sit together and watch sunsets, feet up on the rail, and eat peanuts together. Told ya, everyone loves my Dad.

With our love, forever Dad.
~Us.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice is what Dad would appreciate.

Donations can also be made online to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto or Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. Both hospitals were compassionate and cared for him with utmost care and sincerity.

Arrangements entrusted with Ridley funeral home, Etobicoke.
