Fernando BasilFERNANDO, Basil - (March 6th 1941 – April 27th 2021) -

In the morning hours of 27th April just over a month after celebrating his milestone birthday, Basil peacefully left us in the comfort of his home in the arms of the love of his life, his wife Hilda with whom he enjoyed 43 beautiful years of blissful married life. They lived together as inseparables.

Born in Sri Lanka and having left indelible footprints in the country of his birth, he was fondly remembered as Basil Aiya which meant brother Basil. The family still hails him with this title including his dearly beloved wife.

The couple migrated to Canada and Basil continued leaving those indelible footprints in Canada too amongst his friends, peer group, colleagues and others.

This wonderful, gentle, loving, caring personality has left a permanent mark etched in our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend. He has been a father figure for his nieces and nephews and has always been following their progress in life. Family was a pivotal essence of Basil’s life. He was honoured as a patriarch father, uncle and grand uncle to the large family of his and his wife Hilda. He had a long-standing relationship with God and was very blessed with his faith to his dying breath.

In lieu of flowers, you may request to Plant A Tree in Mr. Basil Fernando’s name. Please visit Newediuk funeral home, to make such a request. Arrangements entrusted with Newediuk.
