Cardy AliceCARDY, Alice 'Bay' E. - August 8, 1925 – April 27, 2021 -

Our wonderful, warm, wise and witty Mum died peacefully at home on April 27, 2021 surrounded by family and Sparky, her ever present Jack Russell.

Born in Toronto, Bay was the loving wife to the late Gordon Cardy and mother to Barbara and her husband Peter, Roland and his late wife Sandy, Gordon Jr. and his partner Astrid, and predeceased by her youngest daughter Rosemary (1985).

Grandmother to ten and with six great-grandkids.

Bay shared her strong opinions and advice with all (wanted or not) with no topics off limits.  From the outset Bay chose to support her husband from home while his career took them throughout several cities in Canada and the U.S.

She volunteered over many years with the Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and Alcoholics Anonymous, the latter with whom she had a special affinity.  Until Covid-19 struck she could be found every fourth Wednesday working at her church’s food bank dispensing much needed food and household products.  Bay loved fur, but only on animals and especially dogs, often two at a time. They were a constant presence in her life, and they returned the unconditional love she gave to them.

She enriched the lives of her kids and many others, and would be the first to say “do not mourn my passing, but enjoy one glass of wine (and no more) in my memory.”

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Marnie Howe of Sinai Health for Bay’s care in the final weeks of her life, and to Dr. Bernice Snider, Bay’s long-time personal physician.

A private family service has taken place.
