Howsam BrendaHOWSAM, Brenda  -  March 15, 1955 - April 27, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Brenda Howsam (nee Cogan) passed away on Tuesday, April 27th, peacefully in her sleep.

Brenda was born in Ottawa, Canada.

She graduated from the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson University, and then worked on television programs such as Global News as a young professional.

While at Ryerson, she met her husband, Gary Howsam.

They were married for 41 beautiful years and had three children together: Meryl, Josh, and Jess.

When Jess married Jeff, and Josh married Cydney, Brenda welcomed her children-in-law as her own.

Brenda was the embodiment of warmth, love, and acceptance. She deeply valued her friends and family and always put her relationships first.

Brenda met the world with openness and love and will be missed deeply by everyone fortunate enough to have shared life with her.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Meryl, Josh, and Jess (and their spouses, Cydney and Jeff); sister, Judith (and brother-in-law John); brother, Mitchell; siblings-in-law Jeff and Cindy, Irish and Owen, and Valear and Larry; nine nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; and many dear friends.

Brenda's ashes will be scattered in a private service this summer.

Friends and family are invited to honour her with a donation to the ALS Society of Canada.
