Garcia Jose GaloGARCIA, Jose 'Galo' - It is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved Papá Galo. God called “Don Galo” on May 22, 2021, peacefully at the age of 87.

Jose Galo Garcia was born in Ecuador in 1934. He immigrated to Canada in 1972.

He was a loving and attentive husband to Genoveva, cherished father of Alfredo, Miriam, Tesoro, Martha, Robert, Jonathan, Christopher, and Michael. Treasured father-in-law to Elisa, Jenneffer and Louisa and beloved grandfather to his grandchildren Cheryl, Andy, Ariel, Ricardo, Kevin, Aaron, Daniel, Jacob, Jonisa, Mila, Isabel, Jason, Alexander and Maya Garcia.

His jovial energy and gentle spirit will be missed by his family and friends and all those who had the opportunity to know his kind and loving heart. He was well known and loved by the people in his community and affectionately known by most as “Don Galo.” His captivating energy touched the lives of everyone he encountered.

Nothing brought Galo more joy than to see those around him happy. He loved sharing his stories and jokes and seeing his loved ones laughing. He was a true gentleman and was always quick to lend a helping hand. Galo loved the meals adoringly prepared for him by his wife and proudly shared this food with his family and friends. Galo beamed with pride seeing them enjoy the delicious food that his “esposa” made for them. His family was his most prized possession.

Galo spent his later days helping around the house and enjoying time with his precious grandchildren. He loved watching hockey games, especially his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. But there was one thing that filled his soul more than anything: music! His favourite, salsa and “boleros” songs filled the house with joy, and he was often known to grab the nearest person for an impromptu dance.

There is now a somber silence in the Garcia home and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. But there is also peace in our hearts in knowing he lived a long and healthy life filled with happiness, love, and laughter.

They say that no one will remember what you wore, what car you drove or how much money you had, but they will never forget the way you made them feel. Galo, we felt your love. We will celebrate your life as fiercely as we mourn your passing.

As you close your eyes in rest, may all your pains and troubles be lost, and only the immense love that surrounded you remain. May you find paradise and a world of eternal life and may your soul rest in eternal peace.

Arrangements and livestream details are entrusted with Scott funeral home, Woodbridge chapel
