MARTNS, Ilda - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ilda Martins, after a courageous battle with an aggressive cancer, she left the world peacefully on May 27, 2021.
The one-of-a-kind beloved mother to Mark (Patricia), Nuno (Yulia), and Catia (Marcin), and devoted grandmother to Arwen, Emily, William, Leah, Luke, Caleb, Leonora, and Alanea.
Born August 24, 1960, in Zambujeira do Mar, Portugal, to Maria das Dores and José Calçada Júnior, she was the adored youngest sibling of Maria do Carmo, José, Maria Natália, Maria Helena, Margarida, and Luís.
In September 1988, she immigrated to Toronto, ON, Canada, where she proceeded to piece together the next several chapters of her life.
She will be remembered for her tireless work ethic (and inability to sit still!); for her integrity; kindness; sense of humour and fun; her adoration of her cat, Neo; her pride in her native Portugal; and, primarily, for her everlasting love for her children and grandchildren- a love which permeates and endures beyond worldly constraints.
