Veenhof GeorgeVEENHOF, Gerrit 'George' Hendrik - (1934 - 2021) - George Veenhof passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 13, 2021, in his 87th year.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Cheryl, and his three sons; Clarence (Robin), Paul and Richard (Doug).

Also survived by his grandchildren; Nicole, Samantha, James and Mia, and his new great-grandson, Caiden, all of whom he was so proud.

George was born Gerrit Hendrik Veenhof in Amsterdam, Netherlands and with his newly-wed wife immigrated to Canada in 1957 to begin their lives together in their adopted country.

George loved to garden and had many artistic gifts. Originally trained as a draftsman, he enjoyed drawing and painting, especially landscapes, and taught himself to play both guitar and organ. Together with Cheryl, George really enjoyed singing in a church choir wherever they were living, travelling to competitions and enjoying the fellowship with other members of the Dutch community here in southern Ontario.

Moving from Innisfil to the Dutch Retirement community at Holland Christian Homes was a highlight of the past 6 years, and George was able to meet many of those old friends again.

The past several years have been difficult for George and Cheryl. With the diagnosis of dementia, he became quite isolated and this Covid year had caused further isolation from his beloved family and friends.

Because George has placed his faith in Jesus, we know he is now with his Lord and perhaps even now singing the music he loved so much in a heavenly choir, giving God the glory.

“Forever in our hearts”

Arrangements are entrusted with Scott funeral home, Brampton chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of George may be made to the Samaritan’s Purse Canada would be appreciated by the family.
